I was invited to write and illustrate the book version of this wonderful Broadway musical by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine when the show first opened in 1988. It has been a joy to share in its triumphal return to the stage with this  soft-cover edition by Simon and Schuster. I hope that it will bring the same magic to life for a new generation of theater goers.

     Based on the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm, our story interweaves the lives of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, and Jack of the Beanstalk among the characters journeying through the Woods, and reveals what happens after their wishes come true.
